‘Tis the season for family fun and holiday events around Moore County!
It’s also the season for showing gratitude, and we want to say THANK YOU to all of you for your support and business throughout the year. We are so grateful to have such wonderful clients and readers, and we look forward to sharing a great 2019 with you!
Here are 10 events happening in Southern Pines this month:
December 1: Southern Pines Christmas Parade
It’s time once again for the Southern Pines Christmas Parade co-hosted by The Southern Pines Business Association and Southern Pines Recreation and Parks! As usual, the parade will end with SANTA and will include local organizations, bands, floats, local businesses, and more! The parade route will begin at Vermont and proceed down the west side of Broad St. until it reaches Massachusetts, crosses the tracks, and will then proceed back down the east side of Broad St.
December 3: Holiday Program at the Southern Pines Public Library
The Library’s annual Holiday Puppet Show will be held on Monday, December 3rd. Children of all ages and their families should enjoy this program that features holiday songs, a puppet show, and an ornament making session. Children are invited to wear their PJ’s for a comfy and fun end to the day!
December 6: The Country Bookshop 65th Birthday Party
The Country Bookshop is turning 65! Help them celebrate this amazing milestone with a 1950’s themed birthday party. They will kick off the celebration at The Country Bookshop with a champagne toast. The party will continue at 305 Trackside from 6:30 to 8:30, just a block and a half away from the bookshop. They will be providing drinks and light hors-d’oeuvre.
December 9: The 41st Annual Episcopal Day School Candlelight Tour of Homes
The 41st Annual Episcopal Day School Candlelight Tour of Homes will feature five unique homes decked out with holiday finery in the Southern Pines and Pinehurst areas. This year they’ll have three horse farms in the heart of horse country in Southern Pines, one home in Historic Pinehurst, and one Church in downtown Southern Pines.
December 9: 4th Annual “Day Drinking for Doggies”
Bring the pups out for Day Drinking for Doggies. 100% of the tips will be donated to Solutions for Animals (non profit, no kill animal shelter). Come out for Christmas pet photos, an ugly pet sweater contest, raffles, adoptable pets on site, coozies, Goody Bags, and food (until gone). 1pm Panthers game as well! All pets must be on a leash and friendly.
December 9: Murphy Family Christmas Concert
In what has become a treasured Sandhills tradition, local musician Paul Murphy and his unbelievably talented family will return to the Sunrise Theater this holiday season. Performing together for the 7th year now, the Murphy Family continues to delight young and old alike with their unique mix of jazz, American popular standards, and gospel influenced Christmas arrangements.
December 12: North Carolina Symphony-Holiday Pops
Celebrate the sounds of the season with all of your festive favorites, from Greensleeves to White Christmas, and much more-and join in a traditional sing-a-long!
December 13: Ugly Christmas Sweater Party
Tis the season to dress your very worst. Dig up your favorite ugly Christmas sweater and come have a beer at Southern Pines Brewing Company. Prizes will be awarded for top 3 ugliest sweaters, and the photobooth will be set up so you’ll always have proof of the night you went out purposely wearing your ugliest outfit.
December 16: Wintertide — Moore County Choral Society 2018 Holiday Concert
The Moore County Choral Society invites you to spend an evening in awe and wonder at the joyous sounds of the season.
December 19: Back Pack Christmas Stockings
Come out to Dugan’s Pub Pinehurst to pack extra food and treats for 1150 kids in the Back Pack Program!
