It’s officially fall, and there are so many exciting events happening in Southern Pines this October to usher in the season. Here are 10 you won’t want to miss.
October 5: First Friday with The Get Right Band
It’s time for the final First Friday of the 2018 season! They’re going out with a bang with “The Get Right Right Band!” Bring the whole family for a night of free music, food trucks, Southern Pines Brewing Company Beer and lots of fun! This event is sponsored by Triangle Wine Company Southern Pines and some of their delicious wines will also be available for purchase.
October 6: Autumnfest
The 40th Annual Autumnfest will be held on Saturday, October 6th! Southern Pines fun for the entire family!
October 11: Fall Festival
Bring your family and enjoy a free fall festival! They will have a “Haunted Forest” (don’t worry, it’s safe for all ages!), glow-in-the-dark mini golf, s’mores roasted over the fire pit, a Trunk or Treat contest with prizes, a costume contest with prizes, Crafts provided by Aberdeen Bead & Brushes, a free family friendly movie, face painting, a cake walk, food trucks with food for purchase, and a Flash Mob of “Thriller”.
October 13: Pet Adoption Day
Join Coldwell Banker Advantage at their 2nd Annual Pet Adoption Day! They have partnered with multiple animal rescue groups who are bringing out adorable dogs and cats ready for their furever homes! If you’re looking for your new best friend, please come by and meet these doggos and kitties! October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Pet Month, and is the purrfect time to give a sweet furbaby a loving home.
October 13: Shaw House Vintage Fair
Experience Southern Pines history with tours, hidden treasures, live music, food, and vintage craft demonstrations on the grounds of the historic Shaw House. In addition to the vendors offering vintage collectibles, antiques and crafts, there will be the Moore Treasures table of collectibles for sale, with proceeds to the Moore County Historical Association.
October 16: Chef’s Feast Sandhills
Come out and enjoy the best food in town, a silent auction, free wine, excellent community fundraiser, entertainment, and more!
October 26: Halloween Fall Festival
Enjoy 2 full days of face painting, bouncy houses, hay rides, haunted house, trick or treating, games, food trucks, relay races, horse and pony rides dress up for kids and horses, s’mores, campfires, ghost stories, amazing food, arts and crafts, and so much more.
October 28: Pumpkins & Pints
Come have a beer and try to best the crowd in a pumpkin carving contest. Pumpkins and carving knives will be provided, and two beers will be included in the ticket price. Practice at home and bring your skills, because the winner receives a free growler and fill from SPBC.
October 28: Trick-or-Treat Trail
Come to Weymouth Woods in costume any time between 2 and 4 pm to enjoy a Halloween-themed trail and find some treats along the way.
October 29: Paint Like Bob Ross
Celebrate and paint like Bob Ross! They’ll be painting happy little trees and clouds just like the master himself. Sign up, show up & sip up! BYOB (Bring your own snacks, beer, wine, champagne or non-alcoholic drinks) Preregistration is required!
