There are so many exciting events happening around Moore County this month. Here are a few you don’t want to miss:
March 13: Free Active Shooter Seminar Free Community Event! Learn what to do and how to help protect yourself and others if you find yourself in an active shooter situation.
March 15: Matisse & Picasso Lecture
Friendship, Inspiration and Rivalry. Leo & Gertrude Stein introduced struggling painters, Matisse and Picasso, to each other. Lecturer: Ellen Burke. Space is limited. Register by calling 910-692-2787.
March 16: St. Patrick’s Day Hunt Follow the clues to your very own Pot O’ Gold at Memorial Park (160 Memorial Park Ct). Crafts, Games, and Tons O’ Fun. Ages 3-10. Free.
March 16: Hummingbirds and Plants that Nourish Them Sponsored jointly by the Council of Garden Clubs and the Sandhills Horticultural Society, Susan Campbell will teach you all about those fascinating little birds and how to attract them to your outdoor spaces. Seating is limited, so register early.
March 16 – March 18: The Addams Family
The Pinecrest Players at Pinecrest High School will perform The Addams Family.
March 17: St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the Village of Pinehurst The Village of Pinehurst will flood the downtown streets with Irish spirit during the 17th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Festive parade entries, great music, dancing, and Irish cheer are all in store for those who attend. The parade will begin at 11:00AM sharp followed by entertainment and children’s activities at Tufts Memorial Park. It is free to participate in the parade; entries are being accepted from nonprofits, businesses, civic groups, churches and families. Decorate your golf cart, car or float for the celebration!
March 18: Marching Through MARCH at Weymouth Woods Join the 100 Mile Challenge! North Carolina State Parks challenges you to complete 100 miles of physical activity through running, walking, biking, paddling, riding, swimming or rolling. Rack up some miles today and join a park ranger for a 3.2-mile hike around Weymouth Woods.
March 24: Easter Egg Hunts in the Village of Pinehurst
Children 9 and younger are invited to “eggsplore” Cannon Park in search of candy filled eggs at the annual Easter Egg Hunt! Special prize eggs will be hidden for age group. Following the egg hunts, families are encouraged to visit with the Easter Bunny and to hang around the park for more family fun activities. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
March 27: Hamilton: the Man, the Moment, and the Music The public is invited to “Hamilton: the Man, the Moment, and the Music.” This free “Return to the Classroom” event, offered by the SCC Foundation, will be on Tuesday, March 27 at 3 p.m. in Owens Auditorium at Sandhills Community College.
March 28: 2018 Couples Carousel
Surrounded by beautiful dogwoods and azaleas while playing our award-winning Donald Ross course – golf doesn’t get any better! The Couples Carousel is the perfect time to rekindle old friendships, make new friends and enjoy great golf. The first of our two popular couple events, the Couples Carousel is hosted each year over Easter Weekend at Mid Pines. Two-person teams compete against each other in a series of three different formats over three rounds of golf, while also enjoying nightly entertainment. The Couples Carousel is the perfect time to rekindle old friendships, make new friends, and enjoy golf.
March 30: Art Buzz Kids One Day Camp: Happily Ever After Explore a different fairy tale land at Happily Ever After Camp. Princesses, princes, dragons, unicorns and fairies! Let imaginations run wild as you create the most enchanting whimsical works of art from golden slime to jeweled mirror mirrors and fairytale paintings.
March 31: Paradox Farm Baby Goat Day
Once again baby goat day is here! Now a tradition, on the day before Easter, the kids will be out on the side yard ready to meet and greet as your make your “whey” into the shop. So bring your kids to meet Sue and Bari and their new baby goats.
