Here are a few events happening around the community this month.
May 8: Mother’s Day Blooms in the Pines
Come learn the art of flower arranging at The Pinehurst Olive Oil Co. As you craft your gorgeous spring bouquet, you will have a chance to sample olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and lite hors d’oeuvres!
May 12: Jr. Flea Market
Great Big Sale. Bargains Galore. Sellers (ages 7-16) must pre-register. Buyers can be all ages.
May 12: Glow Golf – May
Festivities begin at 7:30pm with sunset at 7:58pm. Come out early for a free practice round on Bottlebrush, do the putting combine on the practice putting green and have some s’mores by the fire pit. There will also be Pizza, Pasta & Putting with Live Music on the back veranda.
May 15: Chalk it Out: Chalkboard Lettering Basics
Join The Sway in the old pressroom of The Pilot newspaper for wine, snacks and instruction from a local hand-lettering guru. Learn how to create chalk art like a pro — good handwriting not required!
May 24: Beef & Beer 2018
What started with the idea to buy a keg, grill some burgers, and celebrate the lives and legacies of Mike Duskin and Riley Stephens with their families has evolved into a highly organized event attended by over 1,000 people celebrating the lives of all fallen Special Operators and their families.
May 25: American Flags Placement at Woodlawn Cemetery
Honor past veterans this Memorial Day 2018 by placing American Flags at their cemetery headstone & markers. The VFW Post 7318 will culminate this effort with a Memorial Day Ceremony. Flags In / Flags Out per Department of the Army Pamphlet 290-5 Admin, Opn & Maint of Army Cemeteries. The U.S. flags will be placed on the graves in an upright position 1 foot to the front of, & centered with, the headstone or marker on the front side. This places all flags uniformly 1 foot from gravestone.
May 29: NC Symphony: A Night at the Oscars
The Symphony rolls out the red carpet for an evening of hits from Hollywood’s greatest Oscar®-winning film composers. There will be a Pre-concert Talk in Pinecrest High School Band Room at 7 pm.
May 31: National Cancer Survivor’s Day at FirstHealth
National Cancer Survivors Day is a time to come together and share smiles and victories. Celebrate life and triumph over cancer! Enjoy guest speaker Christy Thompson followed by art and heavy hors d’oeuvres. This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required.
