September 6: Sunrise Theater presents Exhibition on Screen: Renoir
Pierre-Auguste Renoir is known and loved for his impressionist paintings of Paris. This stunning film – based on the remarkable collection of 181 Renoirs at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia – examines the direction he then took and why it provokes such extreme reactions right up to today.
September 7: First Friday with Dangermuffin
Bring the whole family for a night of free music, food trucks, Southern Pines Brewing Company beer and lots of fun!
September 8: SUP Pines: Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga Class
This is the final class of the season at Reservoir Park. Join Darcy from SUP-Pines for a 2 hour Stand-up Paddle Board Yoga Class! Enjoy the tranquil beauty of Reservoir Park while transforming your body & mind. Class begins with a 15 minute warm-up/intro to paddling, then we transition to water with a 15 minute paddle followed by a 75 minute Vinyasa Flow, ending with a 15 minute paddle back.
September 8: Sizzling Salsa Fest
No Salsa dance experience or partner needed. Get the night started with a Salsa Group Class, then dance the night away! While you’re at it, enjoy a GIANT Taco Bar!
September 10: Booktasting
Come participate in the Library’s second Booktasting! Readers looking for something new to try can sample different types of books and refreshments from all around the world. Librarians will be on hand to discuss book choices and make recommendations based on reading interests, and to show patrons how to use the Novelist Plus database. During this event, the Library will also be celebrating the 23rd Dedication Day—the anniversary of the date when the Library officially moved into its current location at 170 W. Connecticut Avenue.
September 12: Speed Networking Event
Moore Young Professionals and The Sway present Speed Networking: a fast and fun way to make new business connections! Small bites, prizes & more.
September 15: Saturday’s Farmers Market
Local and fresh produce delivered weekly from Moore County farmers and producers.
Saturday’s Farmer’s Market are full of fun, seasonal fruits and vegetables (we have strawberries + asparagus) a variety of meat products, arts and craft, live music, occasional food demos and more!
Sept 15th- Tim Wilson + Thyme and Place Cafe Food Demo
September 15: STEAM Saturday
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Saturday will offer a variety of challenges and experiments using favorite fall items such as pumpkins and leaves! Craft tables will be out all day. This program is for children Kindergarten through 5th grade.
September 15: Singer-Songwriter In the Round
The Sunrise Theater’s original showcase returns for its fifth installment, welcoming back host Becca Rae, who has put together another stellar lineup of songwriters from North Carolina. Presented in Nashville’s famous “in the round” style, this intimate evening of storytelling takes audience members inside the minds of professional songwriters. All four artists will share the stage at the same time, taking turns explaining the inspiration behind their original music and playing just one song at a time. This show is a unique opportunity for fans to go behind the lyrics and melodies of Carolina’s original soundtrack. Featured artists will be Becca Rae, Alan Barnosky, Faith Bardill, and Daniel Ayers.
September 20: Pumpkin Door Hanger Workshop
Customize your project in studio with your choice of paint colors. Registration allows one adult to make one project. This is an adult only workshop, only those 18 and older will be allowed in studio. BYO wine or beer to sip and enjoy during the workshop. Registration required.
September 22: 3rd Annual Pours in the Pines
Pours in the Pines is excited to announce their 3rd Annual Festival on September 22nd at Weymouth Center! They will again be supporting the Duskin and Stephens Foundation and Southern Pines Rugby Club.
September 25: 6th Annual Taste of Southern Pines
Stroll through beautiful Downtown Southern Pines with friends, enjoy a delicious sampling of local foods and beverages, and support local shops.
September 26: Memory Café
The Memory Cafe is a monthly drop in event, open to the community for those who have dementia and their family member. Come enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and small activity in an understanding environment.
September 27: North Carolina Symphony-Beethoven’s 5th
Four fateful notes begin what has become one of the most important and popular works in classical music-Beethoven s stormy and victorious Fifth Symphony. The composer s lighter side is revealed in his ballet suite, The Creatures of Prometheus, full of bristling energy, delicate melodies, and vivid orchestral colors.
