Happy New Year! Here are some events happening around Moore County this month.
January 4 – January 6: Skating at The CarolinaThe Carolina Hotel’s West Lawn has been transformed into an expansive 3,000-square-foot skating rink. Complete with music, lights and joyous cheer, the rink is sure to put you in the holiday spirit. Skates will be provided. Tickets are $10 per person.
January 5 – January 26: Stitches & Clay Opening ReceptionShowcasing works by Judy Foushee/Freeman Pottery, Rita Regan, and Sandhills Quilters Guild.
January 7: Chamber Music: Mallarmé Chamber Players The Mellarmé Chamber players, based in Durham, will perform a concert at Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities celebrating diversity in our culture, featuring music of African-American, Asian, Latino and women composers. There will be a reception to meet the artists following the concert.
January 15: NAACP Martin Luther King, Jr. Day ProgramMartin Luther King Jr. Observance Day Program will be held at Southern Pines Primary School, H. A. Wilson Auditorium at 11:45 am.
January 18: Estate Planning SeminarAn Estate Planning Seminar conducted by Attorney Stacey Walters, with dinner following. Attend this free event and discover how to avoid costs and delays of probate, avoid losing your life savings to nursing home costs, and plan for businesses, real estate or special family circumstances.
January 20: Pinehurst Half Marathon Presented by vineyard vinesThe Pinehurst Half Marathon, presented by vineyard vines, 10k, and 5k starts near the famed Pinehurst No. 2 course and will run through the private grounds of the world-class resort, featuring scenic views of the breathtaking resort property and quaint Village of Pinehurst before finishing with a post-race vineyard vines Champagne Brunch at the resort.
January 20: STEAM Saturdays : Snowman Science!STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Saturday will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20. Experiment and craft tables will be out all day. From 11:00 a.m. to noon join the Library staff for a special Snowman Science event! This program is for children grades K-5.
January 28: Sandhills Wedding Expo 2018The Sandhill’s Wedding Expo allows you and your entire bridal party to sample wedding cake and food choices, hear music, meet photographers, talk to wedding vendors face-to-face, try some make-up and jewelry, and gain hundreds of wedding ideas and tips. Plus, experience some of the best wedding gowns, flowers, lighting, and decorations on display for you to touch, smell, and see.
